What Model is my VIP???

I just bought a 1987 VIP. The boat is not the Fish/Ski type. Definatley the ski only. She measures 16'9" according to the title. But, nowhere on the boat is a model number or ID number. Only the VIN. This sucks. Doesnt really matter a whole lot as I paid cash for her but I'd like to know the model. The boat came new with a 1988 Force 125 outboard. Oh, and the ID placard on the cockpit is missing. Also, does anyone know the weight limit on this boat. Just joined this sight today but its been a great help the last few weeks while Ive been tinkering with the boat. Thanks fellas

Thanks, Mine looks ALOT like yours. Mine didnt come with the center windshield, and the padding on the front of the boat at the bow is a little diffrent. Probably a year design diffrence. I have the same pinstripes on the outside. But, no glovebox and I have 2 single seats instead of the back to back type. Probably been changed out sometime because it has a new interior installed last year by the previous owner. I think mine is going to be a Vision 1750. But, to be sure I'll try and get some pics up and running.

Razincain,get any pics yet?. The 17 ft vip vision came in two versions,the 1700(which is the I/O model) and the 1750 (which is the outboard model).My guess is, yours is the vision 1750.

hey there,
If your vip is 16'9" and a 1987 model it is going to be the 1750 vision.
The 1750 vision is 16' 9" long and 82" beam, 135 max HP, 850lb. cap. lb., apx weight 1150 lb. fuel tank cap. 17 gal.
You said no center windshield.
Might be a Sk-16... 16'2" long, 74" beam, 100 max HP, 715 lb. cap., apx weight 970, fuel cap. 17 gal.
That being said, the only 16'9" outboard offered in 87 was the 1750 Vision.

I had the same issue as you when I was buying my boat, the guy didn't know the model and he was even confused on the year. I called Caddo Manufacturing (the new VIP owners) and gave them my hull number and they provided all the info I needed. They were very helpful!
