OD Ratio Change

1970 MC-1 250 cid 165hp L-6, OD raitio 1.65:1 I just aquired a boat with a mercruiser 120 4cyl. I'm assuming it's ratio is 1.98:1 is it possible to run this drive on my 165 without changing the gears or? possibly reprop? It says 120 on the drive so alpha 1 maybe havent got the #s or yr yet. looks like mid 80s, thanks.

Well i guess its a MC-1 it has the eye on top the serial # is 5162162, can the yr be figured from this #? thanks bondo maybe a 23p prop? It also has the trim senders on the hinge pins istead of the top of the bellhousing. thanks

Ayuh,....... Just a later model of the older drives,.......

Maybe a 25",..??

Thanks Bondo, so it's a newer MC-1 thats good now if i could use it? haha it looks in alot better shape than my ole MC-1. How about a 4blade prop wouldn't that help me get closer to where i need to be? Whats the largest pitch you can fit on one of these drives? Dia/Pitch? thanks

Ayuh,........

It's 8" from the center of the propshaft to the Cav Plate,.....
So a 16" prop is pretty much the Most it'll swing,.....

Now Pitch,...... Seeing that a Bravo Racing prop will fit your drive,......
The Sky is the Limit,...... Or, Maybe your Checkbook is the Limit...............

haha! My checkbook didn't like that! I'll save it for a spare and keep my eye open for a 23-25 p 15-16" prop im just sport fishing anyway not sking or tubing, not in to much of a hurry! Thanks Bondo have a good night!

Ayuh,....... Forget about Diameter,+ Shop for Pitch,+/or Blade design......

The Engineers will figure out the diameter.......

just wondering, is this drive gonna be behind yer 200hp L6? if so, maybe that'll get ya closer to the proper ratio..... just wondering.....
