Hello , I just recently scored a free johnson sea horse . I do not know a thing about them or outboards in general... From what i have read it might be a 1956 7.5 johnson seahorse the #'s on are AD-10 # 1362258
can somebody help confirm what my outboard is ????
gas/oil ratio ??
spark plugs ??
good project or will i be just throwing money at it ???

Thanks Dave

AD-10 = 1956 7.5hp Johnson. Mixture is 24/1, 1 quart of TCW-III 50/1 oil to 6 gallons of gasoline. A octane rating of 87 will be fine. Use Champion J6C spark plugs, gapped at .030 .

if it is complete and has good compression, and a good lower unit it can run like new for +- $200.

Re: Newbie Here Question On New To Me Motor

I have been reading on another outboard build simular to my motor. it is a 5.5hp but seems to have the same components. Last night I took the head off and lubed the the cylinder walls and through the two side plates off the side of the head .... Motor pulls now does not have any spark ... I also did a compression check and the third pull was 65psi on both cylinders... is this good ????? I will be checking the coils tonight I read somewhere that you can put an ohms meter to check if they are good are not , and now I can not find where I read it at ......
Thanks for the guru's help on the board here

From what i've read on this forum smaller HP motors such as yours will run with those compression numbers. Get it tuned up and running good and then do a decarb (you can do a search on this forum and get detailed instuctions). A decarb will probably increase the compression. Good Luck.
