I inherited a nice boat from my grandfather that was always well cared for. It has a 1986 Johnson 90 hp that probably hasn't been run in 3 years. I recently had the carburetors replaced and a new water pump put in. A couple questions before I get it out on the water:

1) Is there anything else I should do to tune the engine up?
2) There appears to be a couple of gallons of old gas in the 12 gallon tank. Should I try to remove it or just pump in some good gas?
3) Do I need to change the oil (again, at least 3 years old)?
4) Is there a way I can get a hold of the manual for this engine?

Thanks for the help,
ben

I would certainly try and remove that old gas.

I'd also change the gear oil (don't forget the new washers for the plugs).

Look on ebay for a manual. You should find one or two.

Look in the FAQ's for a thread entitled "Awakening a Sleeping Outboard"

Outboardbooks.com website does not work. Can you re-post that site again?:)

Thanks all for the help. I am going to try to get her out this weekend, so we'll see if she is in OK shape.
