1984 115 HP Mercury Outboard.
I can't see any way to get a compression checker into the bottom cylinder.
The casework below the power head is in the way. It appears that I have to remove the power head to get at it.
Also I have to remove the water jacket cover plate over the spark plug area because it has some leakage around some plugs. Do I have to remove the power head to accomplish this.
Thanks in advance for you help
Bart

you can drop the cowling frame by removing a few bolts and screws, leave the powerhead on. hope this helps. J

Bart, I added a 90 degree brass elbow to my compression gauge, between the gauge and the rubber tip. This allowed me to check #6.
