Hi guy's new to the forum, very informative site.
I have a 1999 50hp 4stroke evinrude (OMC) engine family# (YIPXM50220) Mod.#(E50PL4SS) SER,#(18005835) My tilt goes up without a problem but will not come down unless I use the manuel bleeder. The switch is working and I can feel and hear the down solonoid kicking but no downward movement. Last summer it would work if I kept hitting the switch about 50 times but no movement at all this year. I do have a manual but I cannot find anything in troubleshooting to cover that problem.
Thanks In Advance,
Steve

Can you hear the trim motor running when you press the down button?

No,All I can hear is the solinoid kicking. I reversed the wires on the up down solinoid since my original post and it did go down but not up. I guess I'll have to replace the solinoid. Are they hard to replace? can they be rebuilt?

Re: another trim/tilt question

Thats good news. Yes sounds like a bad solenoid.

I never heard of anyone rebuilding one. Probably easier to buy new. Find the part number and do a bunch of searching online. I bet you can find them pretty cheap.

Good luck.
