Hi, i suspect my trigger is faulty! and i dont know how to test it. i think one or more of the three wires (black=earth, purple=CDM 1, white CDM 2) may have a intermitant break in it. i noticed the outer Braided sleeve is badly frayed just where it go into the trigger unit! i have been trying to get the link and sync set up as per the manual but the engine seems to cut out when the timing is advanced anywhere near the 6? mark at tick over!

it will start at a highish tickover and the timing is at approx -10? but when i advance it slowly by hand it will suddenly cut out anywhere between -4? to 6?.
last week after trying for hours it just seemed to work and i was able to advance the timing mark thro 0? and on to the spec 6? mark and it was ticking over at 800 revs in forward gear at 6?. it ticked over fine for 30 minutes and i turned it off thinking the link and sync was finally done. thinking about it, i didnt rev it up at any point then and so the trigger wires were not disturbed) but when i tried to restart the engine it would not tick over! ive been trying to redo the link and sync but it just cuts out when i advance the timing. can anybody help? the manual dosnt tell me how to test the trigger unit.
