squirt a shot of starter fluid in carb and she fires right up and runs smooth till it uses up the starter fluid.
the fuel is pumping to the carb as it should, and the carb does not flood so i figure the float is fine.
I pulled carb and check anyway all looks well but there appears to be no needle or anything that is servicable in carb...
Does anyone have an exploded view of innards of carb they could post or should i explode this engine???
thanks

Re: 35 hp chrysler 354 HC not getting gas

ok,i figured out the plunger disengages shift mechanism , so that throttle can be advanced enough to start engine, also on another thread found out how pushing in key chokes motor...
Motor runs strong with lots of throttle but refuses to idle.
Any ideas to the idle problems, any adjustments i can make. or is there a problem with points.
has anyone ever had a problem with the sediment bowl not coming off.
that is the only thing i have not checked out,it seems to be sealed on tight.and i dont want to break it.

This is very common with these carbs. On the very top of the carb is the idle mixture control. It is a slotted screw. Turn it counterclockwise till the screw comes completely out and use carb cleaner or WD40 and spray in that hole with the spray straw. Put the spring and screw back in and keep turning till it lightly seats (do not tighten you can do damage if you do) When it is lightly seated turn counterclockwise about 1 1/4 turn counterclockwise.

If by sediment bowl you do indeed mean the glass seiment bowl underneath the fuel pump, then it is sealed with a cork gasket. Sometimes it gets stuck. You just need to pop it off.

As far as idle, does the engine stall if you attempt to idle it or will it just not slow down enough to idle?

Both conditions are most likely linkage related. You can try adjusting the idle stop screw on the linkage tower

i was able to remove sediment bowl, all good there.
engine seems to starve for gas, taking a trip to wallymart tomorrow for a new fuel line.
something i noticed : there was gas was squirting out a small hole on top side of carb while giving it plenty of throttle,is this a result of carb flooding?
how can i find the idle stop screw?

Well now, the carb in my picture shows no idle mixture screw,is it possible it is broken off? if so i will try and extract it somehow.

There should be a screw just above the choke butterflies. Part number 15 below

A word of caution.

Fuel with oil mixed is used to lubricate the cylinders and bearings in a two stroke. Starting fluid is not a good lubricant compared to a oil/gas mixture. Try not to use starting fluid for this reason.

Franks explanation in your other thread is right on. I would get a clymer manual if I were you. The pictures say a thousand words. The breakdown for the parts is a great help when doing this. You can probably get one for cheap on Ebay or even find one in your local library.
