Looking for parts to convert V-belt to serpentine belt on 1980 Mercruiser 260 (Chevy 350). Engine has power steering pump, alternator, and crankshaft pulleys. Current configuration has tendency to have intermittent belt vibration. All comments encouraged. THANX

Are all of your pulleys clean(no rust), smooth and in alignment? It is going to cost you a fortune to change over to serpentine.

what a pain it would be. all accessories would have to be remounted to align all the pulleys.

I agree with the above, (plus I believe the circulating pump is different as well with a serpentine - spins the opposite direction... but I'm not sure).

The best thing to do is fix your current problem. Start by removing the belts and see if any pulleys are bent or rusted up. If they are bent, some "massaging" with a hammer and dolly might straighten them right back up. If not, it would be far easier and cheaper to find another set of used pulleys somewhere.

Belt vibration is caused by loose belts. Loose belts are caused by rusty pulleys.
I can't even imagine the work and expense it would take to make that changeover.

Food for thought...I saw a serpentine belt conversion for older Chevy auto engines. Assuming it would work, it was $1300.
