Re: Breaking News!!!

The latest trick in this neighborhood is the "Gas Sale 5 cents off" They raise the price on the sign 10 cents and only 5 cents on the pump..... this has been happening weekly!

I have been tracking gas in my new car since day one and price/gallon.... I got the car on 3/25/08

3/25 $3.18
4/13 $3.24
4/17 $3.54
4/28 $3.65
5/12 $3.75
5/13 $3.79

Only about .55 cents per month so in one year it should be about $10.39/gallon (or $10.34 on a sale day!)

It is $3.59 here in Tulsa.

Does anyone use the members discounts offered by Sam's and similar companies? It is not much, but as a Sam's club member, you can get 3 cents off per gallon.

Less than a dollar savings on filling up my truck, but almost $1.50 savings on filling the boat. Again, it is not much, but it add's up over time.

No, because the quality of that fuel is very very low. A Ford mechanic told me that there is a service bulletin out lately about adding techron to the gas in Ford vehicles because the quality of gas has dropped as of late. Chevron premixes it so I'll pay a nickel or so more a gallon to get a better quality product.

No, not all gas is the same.

Went for 3.65 to 3.96 here today. 31 cent increase,,,guess all those stimulus checks is causing a big demand :D

$3.86 Last I checked here in Appleton, WI. It'll probably only change the cost of a fill up by 35 buck on by boat compared to last year.

I do question how much "stimulating" those checks are actually going to do for the economy. Not that I complain about free money, its just that most of the money will be directly deposited into big oils accounts through fuel, gas, oil, etc.

Re: Breaking News!!!

I paid $3.84 in Eau Claire, WI today. It's absolutely repulsive.

I wonder if it will affect the boaters. I was reading in a boating magazine the other day on the efficiencies of boats. 20 - 25 Gallons per hour seemed to be the norm for running wide open. Understandably, not everyone runs wide open, and you probably don't do it for long. But the cost of a day at the lake could easily hit $200 to $300, if not more.

I wondered about the campers too, last year.... but it didn't seem to stop them at the local campground. In fact, often, people camped there from the area, so they didn't have to drive so far.

Re: Breaking News!!!

Just to do a fill up on my boat is about $400. I'm on a real small lake of 850 acres. No need to be in a hurry to go nowhere :D. I'll get by this season on about 25 gallons.

Its sad sad sad,,,,When I was getting 5 gallons of gas today. It cost more to fill that can than what it did to fill up any of my cars back in the early 70's. Oh how I loved that leaded gas. There wasn't any need for knock sensors back then, the lead took care of that.

Well, we hit 3.99 today in south-central MI. Glad to see we're not the only one's paying that price.

bhammer -

I'm not much of a beer drinker, but you might try the Hunt Club on Columbia Avenue. If you're into pool, try the Ball Joint on Beckley Road. They have a pizza joint in there as well. We also have some the normal chain spots.

If you get out during the day, check out Goguac Lake. Boat launch is on the north side of the lake. Hope your stay in Battle Creek goes well!

Thanks for the spots. I'll have to head out to the ramp. Too bad the airlines wont let me check my boat :D or I'd take it with me and have fun there. I see lots of boats in yards.
