I'm new to boating and to this site.
I have a 4.3 Kodiak inboard attached to an American Turbine Jet. I have 30 Hrs. on the boat/motor. Yesterday the fresh water intake hose for the heat exchanger came off while at full power. I lost all power but motor kept running, lifted doghouse, re-attached hose and re-gained power. I ran boat for another 5 minutes to dock, put on trailer, checked oil and it was milky. Any thoughts? My dad thinks it is a head gasket, my buddy thinks it ingested water through carb. ???
Thanks for your time.
BTW...once the hose was re-attached it had as much power as when it was new. Can water enter the oil pan via the carb? It went back to the dealer today...we'll see

Your dad is probably right,if your lucky.Other possible cause is a cracked head.Either way the heads will have to come off.I would also check compression for collapsed rings.
