Valve noise

I've just started my 1987 3.0 for the first time this year. With muffs on, I noticed what sounded like some valve noise at higher RPM, but the sound was not apparent at lower engine speeds. The cylmer manual I have says the valves can not be adjusted, so I'm wondering if I might have a stuck lifter or something of that nature. Before I have it torn apart, I was considering putting some Sea Foam in the oil and running it a bit to see if that might loosen things up. I've done a search on Sea Foam and couldn't find any comments about using it in the oil. Anyone have any thoughts on this idea?

Try some Marvel Mystery oil in the oil, it's made for that, it's an upper cylinder lube. You can put this in the gas also, just follow the directions on the can. I use this all the time, I swear by it.

Wonder what your actual oil pressure is?
Not the boat gauge.

Re: Valve noise

Good question, not sure how would I check?

Ok, I'll give that a try. Do you know if I'll have to do an oil change after or can I continue to run with it in?

Install a mechanical gauge.

Re: Valve noise

Ok, I'm guessing it would attach in the same location as the pressure sending unit?

Re: Valve noise

Continue to run it. If you can't find MMO check any auto store for a RISLONE. Very high detergency and great product for loosening sticky lifters.

Re: Valve noise

Would you know if they are a standard thread size, or do I have to pull the sender to find out?

Re: Valve noise

Thanks, any other thoughts on what might produce that type of taping sound?? I accidentally posted this twice, based on the other responses, I need to get a more accurate check of oil pressure as well.
