Took the boat out today, got away from the dock and buzzzzzz, overheat alarm came on. What all should I check? It was pumping water very well, when I had it at the ramp it was pouring out so much water in neutral that it looked like the prop was going. Compression is 160-150-150-150. Going to pull out the thermostat tomorrow, what else should I look at?

Has the impeller been changed recently? Could have went to peices if real old.
With the thermostat out take the hose and flush back thru the engine to clear any debree that may have gotten in the passage ways.

Compression seems to be ok!

Two years ago the impeller and housing were changed, but water gushes out of the two holes on the leg.

Re: 79 Chrysler Over Heating

after getting angry at my stuck t-stat housing screws, decided to start it in the driveway to see if it was still over heating. Guess I must have just sucked up a bunch of mud while I was out...was too frustrated when I got back that day to flush the motor. When I flushed it out the other day all the crud cleared out and it ran at normal temp again. oops, thanks guys
