Motor size

Hello all,
Excellent site, I have learned a lot just reading the posts but I have a question I haven't seen posted. I just got a 1971 Thunderbird free, the boat seems to be in fairly good shape, foam is dry and transom is solid. I intend to use the boat just for fishing as I like the walk around area and it should be fairly stable. My question is most of the lakes I want to fish have a 10hp. limit would it be unreasonable to expect a 10 hp. to push this boat just for fishing?

It will move the boat around fine i push a 24' sailboat with a 4hp

what size and type Tbird? they are good boats, but heavy.

It's a 19 foot Comanche it has a 150 hp Mercury motor on it now but has set for 2 years and I don't need a motor that big so I'm thinking of parting it out.

It'll work fine. Oughta change the prop though.

You will be fine, that little motor will move it around good. you will be suprised...

Thank you all for the information, I feel a little better about buying another motor, the 5 to 10 Hp motors are kinda costly to make a mistake.
