Help with Prop Identification

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with identifying my prop or showing where I could get the info from. Here's number I got off of it:

48 834850A45 16P

Now the previous owner of the boat changed it from a 3 blade prop that came with the boat to this one and I'd like to grab a spare, however I don't know what the size or pitch is (ok I can guess the pitch is 16 based on the "16P" in the number??). I don't think I am going to change the prop size or pitch as the one on there does a great job at getting off plane and decent speed for my Maxum 2400 SCR.

Thanks in advance

Re: Help with Prop Identification

Looks like it is a 15X16 Aluminum, 4 blade, right hand rotation, model Alpha 4 for a Mercruiser.

I just typed "48 834850A45 propeller" into google, and got several hits...

Hope that helps!

I think you mean getting "on" plane -- correct? The key to propeller selection is knowing what the engine rpm is at wide open throttle with an average load. Since we have no idea what engine you have and what the rpm is at wide open throttle, you may not have the best prop.

Thanks sidechoke67, didn't even think about googling it - D'oh!

And yes Silvertip I meant "on" plane , my bad! ;)

I have a 5.7 Mercruiser model MCM5.7 dual barrel carb with an Alpha 1 drive.

It tops out WOT at around 4400 RPM's (only me in boat- boat is 5000lbs dry) , it could be a bit higher as I haven't been able to get it out on a day when the lake is flat. Lake Ontario can get pretty choppy. Oh ya one other thing the engine manual says WOT should be between 4200-4600 RPM.

I'm hoping to get some calm water this weekend and try and see what the WOT RPM actually is. The weather here in south western ontario has been pretty bad since I put the bopat in the water 2 weeks ago. I'll post the WOT data once I find out definitively.

Thanks for your help guys (or gals) :)
