Cobra sterndrive impeller

I'm needing to help a friend replace the impeller on his Cobra. Do you have to remove the lower unit to replace it? One of the threads seemed to imply that you don't. I'm used to Mercruisers and don't know much about the OMCs. Any details on how to get to the impeller would be greatly appreciated. He doesn't have a manual.

Nope,drive stays on.Remove the plastic cover on the back of the upper and you will see the impeller housing.

lube it with some dishwashing soap. to ease installing it.
