On a 150XR2 the magnet that triggers the warning module for the rotation of the oil pump drive was put in backwards....what would happen?.......

I don't think that could happen. Backward magnets repel. If I'm understanding your statement correctly

Re: What if?

It would set off the oil alarm because it would not pick up the proper signal. And, yes it can and does happen.

Re: What if?

Here is why I'm asking for opinions: I just put a new O/I module on and when I turn the key instead 2 beeps is sounds 5 times now...maybe a new design I dunno....anyway when it started the alarms was beeping , like every time the cylinder fired..really fast....so I disconnected the wire going to the switch box the beeping stopped at idle only at 1200 up it started again...so I disconnected the pump sensor and it ran w/o any alarms.....I did have the shaft and pump off the engine and I did have the magnet out....I read my manual and it said put magnet to a compass and the end that attracts "N" goes in the bearing first...thats what I did well after all this I thought maybe I screwed up so I flipped the Mag around works perfect.....I just want to make sure that there wasnt any other things that would cause that super fast beeping Im mean fast not the low oil beep either probably 4x of that...
