hello, i have a 86' merc classic 50 (45), my carbs have been rebuilt, but still have a fuel overflow problem. So, I tore the carbs down, needles and seats looked fine. My question is, should the needle spring have quite a bit of pressure on it? as i have it set now, the spring is almost collapsed in the level float position, this seems excessive to me, but bowl is still overflowing? Should the float contact the spring in the down, or open position? should i put more pressure on the needles in the running, or level position? also, i have found out that the seats are not replaceable, what is an accurate test to conclude the seat is in fact shot? what pressure should the fuel pump make @ idle to pressure test the needle/seat ?
Thanks, any help would be great!!!
