I have 96 50 hp. evinrude. It has not been started in a couple years. It will start if I hold in the elect choke and I can rev motor, when holding choke, but it will die, when released. I have removed and cleaned carbs; filter and lines. No change! Any ideas....before heading to the repair shop:eek:?

It would appear that you've overlooked something within the craburetors. Your explanation indicates that fuel either isn't gaining entrance to the carburetor float chambers or is not flowing thru the carburetor passageways.

Did you manually clean the high speed jets that are located in the center bottom portion of the float chamber? If not, do so.

The small brass tube that leads from the bottom nozzle area of the top carburetor body to the upper slow speed fuel passageway must also be perfectly clean of obstructions.
