I need to find out what hp and year my motor is

I have an ELTO the model # is 12D17E and the serial # is 30671. I have tried looking around the net but not to successful. If anyone can that would be greatly appreciated. thanks Jack

I believe the first 12 means it's a 12hp. I had a 5 hp and it started with 5. Try aomci.org and post the question there, they know the older more obscure engines.

I was looking at ELTO as a model number, not a make.

ELTOs were Evinrudes, right??

Antique Eltos were made by Ole Evinrude after he sold his Evinrude company. There is a lot of history after that, but yes in a nutshell they were made by Evinrude. However, the one we are talking about here is a Canadian built Gale motor. Same as Gale Buccaneer, Sea King, Sea Bee, and more.

No, its a Gale built Elto. What do you need to know?

Don't know if one exists. I'd post over at AOMCI.org under the ask-a-member link. They can tell you where to look. I suspect eBay as that's where I get most of my manuals.
