I recently bought a 2nd hand Yamaha 225 BETO, 6K7. I have had 2 different opinions from 3 different people. It seems that the prime start is leaking and one person tells me to repair and 2 both from yamaha say becuse of my location removinf this which assist in cold start will not be a problem. Eng peopl here not too sharp does anyone know how to bypass a "Prime Start"

Re: Yamaha 225 rough running and no power

would it be so hard to simply fix it?
you cannot bypass the prime start.
it was developed cause idiots cant seem to strt a motor by the book.
all manufactures have this issue.
your engine is a non US market motor but its based on the early 90's 225.
its a simple fix. replace the primestart fuel pump diaphrms, thats all that can really leak unless you have a bad A or B solinoid.
these solinoids also add fuel for knock detect and rapid acceleration.
if the solinoid leaks either clean or replace them.
its easy to test but its an intragal part of engine fuel management not just for cold starting.
