Hey all i just bought an old 40 hp mariner with no ignition anyone know where i can get a wiring diagram for my engine som i can try to fix the problem som of the wires is disconnected someone tryed to fix it but he dident know what he was doing
First the serial number I think the engine is a 79 the starting number in 79 was 676B-301726 and in 80 started with 676B-303301 could you be missing the first and last digit? By the number it is a long shaft, hand crank engine or was built that way. Next they used 2 differant ign.systems Bendix and one of Jap manufacture, if we are getting close let me know which ign, it has and I will look for a wiring diagram.
Those wire definitely don'tmatchthe ones in the diagram and I checked in my service info and don't find any that do. Most Mariner stuff I had I gave away as we don't work on them. Wish I could be more help but I simply don't know.
