My oil alarm goes, (beep, beep, beep), when running or not. I turn the key on and it has the initial long beeeeeeeeep and then goes, (beep, beep, beep, beep, beep), and never stops. I see smoke when I start it and there is plenty of oil in the tank. Help please?

Disconnect the 2 blue wires going to the alarm module and try again. If the beeping stops you have a problem with the low oil sensor. If it still beeps, you have a bad alarm module.

I see where the alarm is behind the instument panel but don't know where the alarm module is or what it looks like. I have a Sylvan Pro Select 21, can you tell me where I can find the alarm module? Thank you for the help. John.

Let me try.

The 2 blue wires go to the oil tank mounted on the engine. If the tank is low, that's the problem, and there's a problem getting oil from the boat resevoir.

If it's full, then disconnect the 2 blue wires. If the beeping stops, the sensor in the tank is bad (common.) If it's in the cap, replace the cap. If it's in the tank, replace the tank.

The black box that the 2 blue wires go to, and also several other wires is the oil alert module. If disconnecting the 2 blue wires doesn't quiet the alarm when the engine is stopped, then the only part that could be bad is the alarm module itself.

hope it helps
John

That part behind the panel is just the horn. The alarm module is bolted to the motor. Find the 2 blue wires coming from the oil tank and follow them to the module. Its probably on the starboard side down low.

This was useful to read, and confirms solution that I tried out for my 115 Mariner, see separate post today. I'm now in the process of getting a new oil tank and hope to install this coming weekend. Will update on how this worked out.
