Haven't heard about cable raised, wouldn't surprise me. But I do know there was one that twisted sideways to get out of the way for trailering. Haven't seen one of those either, sure hope I don't!!!!

Re: merc 80 hydraulic shift hose leak

I have all the shop manuals and paperwork for the boat, it only has about 6 hours total on it. Long story: but it was in storage for 35 years. My problem now is the mechanic that was supposed to fix it took it apart and decided he "didnt want to be involved with a boat that old". So now I am kinda screwed because all marina's in my area are booked for at least the next month. I have done 90 % of the required work and the engine runs like a swiss watch but this shift problem entails separating the engine from the transom and same with the lower unit, not exactly my forte.
