fuel pump replacement

advice please,
johnson 98model 90hp BJ90SLECM
vro is disconnected
which is the simplest to mount fuel only pump (premix)
and part number please as i don't have a manual

Brian....simplest & CHEAPEST is to use the existing pump with the oil disconnected if that 's the way you wish to go. If the pump is bad, the fuel only pump pn is 5007422. Be forewarned that it will set you back mucho bucks. Is the existing pump bad and I keep wondering why the oil was disconnected.

thanks jim,been using the existing pump vro disconnected for 6yrs
probably only needed new diaphram was easier to disconnect.
reading some posts you can use/adapt aftermarket pumps need to know which one as mounting seems to be the only issue

I know of the aftermarket pumps but have never used one. They are, to my understanding, a replacement for the VRO and bolt up to existing mountings. I'm not even sure where or who offers them.

I could suggest rebuild kits for your existing pump if needed. They are still available. I have done a couple and was not happy with the results. Older pumps that have been in use for many years tend to have warped bodies. Real tough to get them to stop leaking if you even can.

Never was brought up in your original post, are you having problems with the pump even with the oil side disconnected?

the pump has been working perfectly until recently
still works fine at slow and fast speeds, starves for fuel if driven at a fast trolling speed.
pumping the bulb rectifies this
it could be the intermediate jets blocking i guess but i thought i would try a new fuel only pump anyway,then if need be pull the carbs
