I lost all the fluid from my PTT because of a bad o-ring on the bottom plug. Now I have to recharge the system. I know I need to bleed air as I fill with fluid but don't know the correct procedure. Can someone give me some advice?

Trim & Tilt

With someone?s help push the up button, and someone help the motor go all the way up. Lock motor in that position, now fill reservoir, replace cap. Unlock and bush button to lower motor. Keep repeating until it does not take fluid. The unit should operate now. Dextron or power steering fluid.

That sounds simple enough. A question though...how does the trapped air escape?

Another question. When looking at the rear of the boat, the PTT has the motor on the left, two trim cylinders and the larger cylinder between the trim cylinders, and the reservoir on the right. The fill plug in near the top of the reservoir. There is a plug with an o-ring seal below the pump which appears to have some kind of a relief valve in it. Any idea what that plug/valve assembly is?

As always, thanks for your help and Happy Father's Day.

No one ever comes back to a thread to help. I have been searching threads to find out how to add fluid and bleed.

I don't think anyone ever really sorts out there problems from here.

P.S. What's up with the go get a beer load times every time you click on a thread!!!!!!!!
