I know this might be a Q for the prop forum but, just put on a big SWS II prop on my F225 yami 15 3/4 x15 and the RPM is maxing out in the upper range of the motor 5800-6000. Just wondering if this is ok for the motor or putting more stress than it should be. I hardly ever run it up at WOT anyway ?

It is or isnt above the factory RPM max suggestion. I do not have that motor. My OX66 is 5500 and I run it up there quite a bit. What does your book say for max RPM's? If your at or a bit under, I would think the motor is running the way it was designed to run. I personally would not run over the suggested max RPM's and I lean toward what the owners manual says.

is it possible that ECM controlled engines have rev limiters programmed in them??? and if they do wouldnt it be best to keep going up in prop to the point that it just gets to max limited RPM or just under????:)

From what I?ve read here on the forum most say to prop the 4-strokes to the upper range of their RPM band. Overprop and you may have difficulty with ?making oil? (water or fuel contaminating the oil) plus lugging the engine. I prop my F150 to 6000, but hardly ever run there for more than a few minutes. Helps holeshot too.

the F225 has an opererating range of 5000-6000 RPM, yamaha and myself reccomend propping to the upper end.
your just about right.
the rev limiter on that engine will start taking control about 6250 or so. its so smooth you can hit it and not realize it, I have one pair of 03 F225's that have over 800 hours above 4000 RPM and 300 above 5000 and 30 above 6000 and still run strong.
the guy has 2 throttle settings, troll and WOT, seastate is irrelavent.

Just wondering Rodbolt or anyone else, if you have any issues with running a 150 Vmax OX66 fuel injected at 5500 for extended periods? Sorry for the engine model hijack.
