The 90 could have damaged the clutch. Before jumping to any conclusions, check the voltage at the green (fwd) and blue (rev) wires where they go down to the lower unit. Check them without disconnecting them. You need full battery voltage. A bad shift switch can deliver reduced or no voltage, causing slipping or no shift.

Don't forget that it could be the prop hub slipping and not the clutch. So check that too.

Maybe the rubber hub in your prop is failing. Take it off and draw a line across the prop and hub, run it and then see if the lines are misaligned from the hub spinning.

My experience has been, once that spring, and hub has slipped, they are usually done. I have tried different methods to restore them, but none with any success. You could try jumping the shift wire to the hot side of the starter solinoid, but first take a reading on the electro-magnet. It should be 8 ohms.

having similar problems as last gentleman, reading 8 ohms on back magnet but very litlle on forward. Can this be fixed? what causes an electric magnet to loose ohms.
