Only problem i ever had with this engine was fuel pump went out one time. About 2 years ago motor started stalling when i put it in gear, choke would get me past that point an engine ran fine, replaceing plugs seemed to fix this problem. I"ve replaced plugs several times to fix this problem. This time plugs didn"t fix it. i been through the carbs an throttal bodies twice, never did see anything. 100 lbs compression all 4 cylinders, has fire, even tried swaping plugs around, same dead cylinder. Out of the water sounds like it hits on all 4 cylinders for about 3-5 seconds before dropping one, placed my hand over the carb on the dead cyl, no differance. I would be very thankful for any help ! david

possibly bad coil. completely swap the suspect bad one with a known good one. if the problem follows the coil. replace the coil.

I put it in the water an left the plug wire off, boat would not even plane. Reinstalled the plug wire, runs fine above 1400 rpm. I think this cylinder is only dead at idle, do i still have a fuel problem? This is my first time doing plastic carbs maby i"m missing something. :(

check your compression. you have 2 carbs, each carb is for 2 cylinders, so if the carb was blocked, etc, it would effect 2 cylinders.
