Why Oh Why Do People Do This?

Got up this morning to hear the cries of kittens. On my front porch I found a box of 6 kittens. No mother cat around at all. These kittens are not even weaned yet and look as if their eyes have just opened. No doubt they are hungry. My wife is already at work, my neighbor hates cats more than me, and I've got to get to work.

It really PO's me that someone would do this to these kittens. Why my house, I don't know? Guess I'll take them to work until I can find someone who can take care of them. It wouldn't have been so bad if they had been weaned from their mother before taking them away. I just don't have the time to hand feed 6 baby kittens. Got to go now, I'll post later on the outcome.

BTW, I promised my wife awhile back that my murderous days of cats is over. Just too many people frown on killing them anymore. Geeesh, what a way to start the day

Well just goes to prove you're a better man than most Mayfloat. Many would just shove them over a fence or toss them in the river. At least you cared enought to ensure they're safe. Maybe there's an animal refuge or SPCA that can help you out.

We've adoped strays and take a few to the refuge when their ignorant owners turn them out. We've got two right now that are about to be abandoned by their owners, you can just tell, as these two beautiful male cats have been out for almost 3 years. We feed them and give them shelter in the winter so it's obvious their owner isn't about to take them back in. When she moves at the end of the month we'll take them to the refuge.

Two years ago we had a stray come to us, we called him Snagglepuss because someone had broken his jaw and his lower fang was sticking outside his upper lip. He couldn't chew anything so we had to blend catfood for him to eat till he healed. We found out who had abused him and turned the matter over to the SPCA. They investigated and found the poor lil' fella and in addition to the broken jaw he had 4 broken ribs and massive internal injuries from being beaten.

God gave man dominion over the animals. That doesn't mean he gave them the right to abuse them.

That hoovers SS Find a local vet, slip them a few bucks to help defray their cost they will generally care for the critters till homes can be found. I find that usually makes everyone happy..........................the wife especially...

I once told him how much he screwed up by doing that, he never did give me an answer, i take that meant stay the course.

It definately does inhale, but its better than the moron who threw a bag of kittens on a busy road last week. I saw a news piece on this on CNN the other day. Some lady ran out in traffic to retrieve the bag, but it had already been runover a couple of times. One kitten survived out of all of them.

Sometimes I wonder if we really are the superior species.

Our local AM radio station has a Market Place that you can sell, trade, and barter. I put it on the radio about my situation. I got 4 calls from different people who was wanting to take them off my hands. One lady said she had a mama cat that had kittens about 4 weeks ago. That is about the time these were born. She came to my shop and picked them up. She called me about an hour later and said the her cat was now nursing them. Even though I don't care for cats, it makes me feel good that these little critters have a chance now. She also said she has some friends that wants to adopt some of them and that she would make sure they got good homes. Guess it was worth waking up to the cries afterall

Goes to show ya, it doesn't take a whole lot of effort to find someone who will help with abandoned animals. Still like to know why my house gets picked for the drop offs?......SS

I never had much use for cats until a couple of years ago. Beginning of Feb. and I went outside to fill the birdfeeder. There were two stray cats near it and when they saw me they took off but one of them stopped, turned around, looked me dead in the eyes and meowed. I melted. Didn't know her condition (diseases) or nature (wild) so we took a plastic kitchen garbage container and put a blanket with a heating pad under it. Placed it on top of my covered Case tractor and she stayed in there for a few days. When we were sure she was friendly we took her to the vet for checkup and shots and she has lived here ever since. Gets along great with our dog too. Named her Casey

We are certainly not superior, humans have the capacity to be more intelligent merely due to having a larger brain.

After my wife gets home, I tell her what I found on the porch. She of course asked me what I did with them. I told her about finding a person to take care of them. She got upset and worried and then told me that those belonged to our oldest daughter and that she left the kittens on the porch while she took the mama cat to the vet! OMG! Now what have I done. I really thought I was doing the right thing. Nobody told me anything about what the daughter was doing.

After a couple of hours of letting me worry about how to get the kittens back,,,,,she tells me that they were drop offs, but not by our daughter.

Yup,,,,she got me good! Now to think of a payback!

Pull out about 100' of her fishing line from her spool and cut it every 25' and re-spool each lenght, leaving it looking like it hasn't been touched.

I was thinking more on the line of fiberglass powder in her underware drawer But who knows what she'll do get one up on me for that.......maybe I better not.

Think I'll take her out to dinner tonight at the cabin that is close to the lake. I'll just forget to take my wallet and let her pay ...........SS
