Hard luck friend is replacing his seized YAHAMA with a brand new 200 E-TECH. Dont see to many of them around yet but they have been out for awhile so I figure someone has experience with them by now. What can he expect? Have heard they drink the fuel. The few I see are very quiet. Can he fresh water flush on the hose attachment with the motor running?
Sure hope it works for him as he has to bite off new controls, instruments, harness, remote oil tank all of which we good on his old YAMAHA setup. thanks FRED

dunno, my 07 175 ETEC had 15 hours and 14 minutes when #4 rod came out the side of the block.
however in 7 days I had a brand new fully dressed 08 powerhead from BRP.
I can tell you BRP is easy to deal with on warrenty.

Re: E-TECH heads up please

Did not know there was a big and small block. All I know is that he is getting it from A-1 marine in MATLACHA, zero financing for 1 yr. One of the few Rude dealers around, just dont see that many. Beginning to see a lot more SUZUKIS and less HONDAs. Maby the lack of dealers is remaining fall out from the OMC debacal. Believe the boat is a 20 ft. MAKO. Bought it from one of these guys who do the fishing shows on cable. He knew the engine was on borrowed time and has had the hots for an E-TECH since he saw the infomershal a few years ago on TV. Just hope it is worth changing out all the YAMAHA goodies.
Does he have to run a different oil? Am really excited for him. Everything he has bought used so far winds up in my yard or on my lift being repaired. Right now I look at his chaparral outside with a new 350 sitting on the ground ( flywheel came loose) and trip over his 290 DP with 4 hrs on it laying in my carport. What a money pit! Now needs a new bell housing, mid drive section. VOLVO parts dont come cheap!
Will have to do some investigating into that big/ small block thing. Why 2 different blocks?
RODBOLT, how did you manage to throw a rod after 15 hrs? Try pulling the throttle back a bit and enjoy the ride. Glad to hear BOMBADERIAR came thru for you. They have an excellent reputation on product support but am only familiar with there locomotive and aircraft divisions. Different animals but it should spill over into the recreational dept. regards FRED

Re: E-TECH heads up please

The small block 200 is based on the 60* motor and would make an excellent motor for the Mako. Great boat. The BB is based on the 90* series and (obviously) weighs more. My buddy at Gator Creek Marine in Punta Gorda has a 60* carb'd motor on his 20' Mako and it's great. The BB 200 will work with no problems and would probably be a little faster so I guess it depends on what he wants to do. Either way he'll have a blast.

Re: E-TECH heads up please

Found out the motor is the small block. Looks like the whole rig will be around 16K. Was not aware that FLAGSHIP did retail to the public, thought they were engine builders. Back in 68, neighbor and his wife moved from BALTIMORE to FREEPORT, LONG ISLAND to build FLAGSHIP engines. Thought this operation in PUNTA GORDA might be sucessor of that outfit.
Have not been to jug creek in awhile, you still fool with props? FRED
