water pressure guage

I've noticed that my water pressure guage won't go back to zero but stays around 10 when shut off don't know how long? But when idling it reads 15 to 18 and then pegs out when running WOT 30+ what can I do to fix this besides replacing guage or is that the only way and does it matter if I run it like this???

If the hose is pinched, or kinked somewhere, it won,t let the pressure bleed off, have you checked that?

The last time that happened, water got into the gauge. It froze over the winter and permanently altered the readings, both high and low. Replace the gauge.
