Hi, I searched the posts and could not find my problem so here it is. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.

I have a 2005 Yamaha F150 4 stroke and a Yamaha analog gauge package on my Crestliner.

Suddenly the Trim gauge is pegged in the full up position. I checked the connections on the back of the gauge and all looks-feels fine.

Very annoying.

Take a look at the sender, a little lever assembly behind the tilt tube on the front of the engine. Sometimes the little peg that trips the lever slips and needs to be re-adjusted.

Re: TRIM-TILT Guage not working

Thanks jevery, but I don't see it. The manual shows something called a "Trim Sensor Cam" but it is on the the main "Through Tube" and I can move it. Feels like it has a spring.

I lifted the motor and looked on the front. all I see is the rubber stops for the piston shafts.

Re: TRIM-TILT Guage not working

Here?s some pictures of the assembly. Sounds like you must have found it if you?ve found a little lever that moves and you feel spring tension. If the pin assembly, (that moves the lever as the outboard tilts), has vibrated loose, (fairly common), then it?s just a matter of re-adjusting the pin assembly. If this is the case then the gauge should register movement as you move the lever by hand. If you move the lever by hand and the gauge does not move then it?s likely the lever assembly, (sender unit), though can?t rule out a gauge failure. I suppose you could use a multimeter to measure for resistance change at the leads from the sender as someone moves the lever through it?s range to test the sender.

BINGO

When I tilted the motor ALL the way up I found that the trim sensor cam is broken. it is cracked. Can I just get a new one and put it on or do I need to remove the through tube to put it on?

pop a new one on, its a 10 minute job on a single engine.
no need to pull anything.

Thanks for all the posts! Got the part and put it on. Guage works fine now.

HELL of a time getting the screw driver to turn the screw.
