Starter problem

I'm having a problem with my 502 carb. When the motor is cold the starter just makes "click" noise. after many clicks it will engage and start normally. Once the boat is warm it doesnt seem to "click " anymore. What is the problem here? I dont want to be stranded somewhere.

What engine and make?
Propably the slave going out,

Well i did everything it said and the test light came on when it was supposed to, the starter turned sometimes and just clicks sometimes. I guess i just need a new starter.

All the grounds have been cleaned?
