Hi All.
I'm new to iboats and just purchased my first bigger boat. The motor is a 2004 Mercury 60hp EFI and I have just had it serviced and just had it out for it's first run. Everything went really well, except the speedo didn't work. Now I've read most of the posts in here about the speed tube and where it should go but I was wondering if anyone has some pictures of where it goes once it enters the engine compartment. I went looking for the cause of the fault last night and yep, found it. The hose from the speed went into the engine housing but then went no-where. It looks like it has been snapped off from somewhere. I rang my mechanic and he said that he can't recall disconnecting it from the lower section as that's what normally happens when you take the leg off. So could that tubing not be in place? Could it be missing all together?
Would anyone have any photos or diagrams of what I might be looking for inside the engine that this pipe connects to? Is it a big job and should I call my mechanic? Is it a job for him?
Thanks for you time.
cheers
