Does anyone know if there are any other makes or year models that are interchangable. The foward reverse shift lever is broke off and that is all that is wrong. Thanks for the help.
I think that the levers are the same from 1959 through 1964 on the 5?, then carried on unchanged with the 6 (1965-1979). That should give you a span of 21 model year outboards to pick the shifter from.
I also believe a lot of them are inter-changable but do not know the exact years. I have several 5.5's. My '61 that I have has the shift rod welded ever since I got it 8 years ago and it still works fine.
Many years of both Evinrudes and Johnsons, 5.5, 6, 7.5 horsepower from the 1950's way up. The differences are in the shape of the handle and whether it will clear the hood. If it clears, it will work. May look funny though.
