1988 6 hp Evinrude, CD Ignition..Ran great 3 mos. ago. No spark at all this year. Checked Kill Sw. Replaced Control Module...Still no spark. Tested Spark and sensor coils under flywheel for ground.Found none. 33ohms resistance through spark coil. 5.5 ohms resistance through sensor coil. Doubt that both high voltage coils would have gone outat once. Vacation in 6 days...I need help!!!

Welcome to iboats!

What did you do exactly to test the kill switch?

Agreed unlikely to be both HT coils at once.

1st suspect would be the kill switch if it wont run but power pack if it had died while running.

Xcusme obviously suspects the kill switch

Kill switch must have the lanyard in place and be open for it to run. It closes to stop the motor. Check that it is an open circuit, or disconnect and insulate the ground wire to try it (Black IIRC)

I should have gone farther into testing the "Kill SW." I had metered the leads while pushing on the button. This morning as suggested I removed the ground wire and the motor started right up. Now I have a $100.00 power pack to add to my spares,:( but it was a cheap lesson.:D Thanks again for the help.

Ah yes, testing...sometimes it's 'how' it was tested that can be a clue to a solution. It would appear that your kill switch is shorted, it should show a normally open circuit when not engaged. Lifting the ground lead or removing the wire from the Amphenol connector opens the circuit, as you've already found out. Glad you got it sorted out.
