How many is too many hours?

I am getting ready to buy my 1st boat. It is a 2001 Mariah 192 with a wakeboard tower, swim platform, custom stereo, marine radio, 5 blade ss prop, 5.0L EFI Merc Alpha I. The interior is in escellent condition, with the rear bench and deck being reupholstered last year. The only concern is that is has 500 hrs on it. Is that alot?

it all depends on the maintenance it has gotten.

The boat is seven or eight years old and ONLY has 500 hours on it. That is less than 100 hours per year. If it has been properly maintained it should be fine. In fact, I would be leary of a boat that old with much less than 500 hours. Boats, like cars need to be used.

If they have the service records and the engine has good compression 500 hours would not be that bad.
I would have a marine mechanic check it over VERY well.
