I am asking a ton of questions today.

how do I hook up a tachometer to my 45 hp Chrysler? I have heard this is the most important thing you can have?

Re: how do I hook up a tachometer?

You need a standard 2 cycle tach with that engine, and even then, some brands will work, and some won't. I'm not sure, so ask over at The Chrysler Crew.

If you have magneto ignition, two brown wires will come out from under the flywheel. These are the kill circuit. They are also tach signal. You need to use one of them and set the tach to one pulse per revolution. If you have coil ignition, use one of the white wires to one coil as a source of signal.

how do I tell whether its a magneto or coil ignition. I know there is at least one black wire coming out from the flywheel.

Can someone help me with the question I asked above?

How do I know whether it is a coil or magneto ignition?

Re: how do I hook up a tachometer?

In the last few days of my ignorance I have figured out that it is a magneto ignition because it says "magneto" under the head cover where the wiring is hooked up. I did not want to pull the flywheel off this past week to check till I recieved my manual. It will be here Monday.

I have scoured the internet and iboats but can't find a 2 cyl tachometer.

can anyone tell me a good place to pick one up?

I may try today at the local one...there is a shortage of stores for that around my area.

I know how to hook it up now thanks to this forum and was just putting the last thread out there had one for their 2 cyl engine and knew a brand name off the top of their head.

the ATV store is a good idea. there is one pretty close. I never thought of that.
