I just bought a boat with a 2000 Yamaha 150 2stroke carb with 235 hours on it. The previous owner took great care of her.

My question is she is running rough sometimes at idle and the idle is not reliable. She wants to stall and does sometimes.

The fuel has been in her about 8 months. Could stale gas be a problem?

Thank you:)

Also, any owners who have one I would love to hear your experience.

I would drain out all the old fuel, replace all fuel filters and rebuild the carbs.

fuel probably,do you have ethanol/gas? replace fuel filter, sample gas, replace if in doubt, may have to do carbs, pretty simple,i just did my 2004 150 clean every possible orfice in the carbs, pay attention to screws on top of carbs, (if so equiped) screw in lightly ,counting the number of turns, do not forget to hook up the oil control arm on the side of the motor, sinc and link and you should be fine, also check fuel pumps to make sure they did not dry rot, back off bolts on pump and squeeze primer ball, if fuel leaks out of pump near motor/gasket than replace, good luck these are all very simple steps, and can save you some$$$$,:)

Disconnect fuel line at primer bulb and run off external 5 gallon tank. If it run good then drain and inspect the fuel system and your fixed. If not you must do that and more by completing a fuel systom diagnostic. Start with filter at engine (clean), then carbs (clean), and lastly fuel pumps (replace).
