Just took delivery on a new Sea Fox 172 cc. I hooked up the depht finder but am having trouble with the vhf radio. I am told that the antenna needs to be at least 3' away from the radio and the compass if the boat is so equipped, and mine is. If thats the case i need to mount an antenna elsewhere. I don't know how to mount an antenna on the gunwale and route the coax to the console. I see a lot of center consoles with antennas mounted on the console, am i missing something? Thanks

Re: Dazed & Confused?

I have mine mounted on the console (about 8" from the depth finder) and it works but I get interference on the finder when I key the mic. My compass is 18" or so away and I have no problems with it.

Re: Dazed & Confused?

You were told best case, Marz Bar. Drifter is an example of common practice with no problems. My CC boats were the same as his.
