I recently bought a used 7.5 merc 2 stroke outboard. (year/model unknown).
It's in tiptop condition but I had a problem starting it when I brought it home... turns out that a piece of dirt got in the fuel line.
Now, I'm worried of getting dirt in there again because I have to remove the fuel line from the engine after each fishing trip, I feel like dirt could settle on the exposed fuel line 'ends' and I'll clog my carburetor again.
Any suggestions? I hate having to wrap up both ends every time, seems like overkill. I don't ever remember my Dad doing that with his engines. Or, am I safe to let them air out, and just brush them off with a cloth before I reattach them?
Thanks for any help.
