Hi Guys. I am new to this site and to owning a boat. I bought an '89 Bayliner Arriva. It happens to have some soft spots on the floor (deck) and I am planning on fixing it. My question is whether any of you are familiar with the Arriva's internal construction. In particular the construction of the stringers. I am concerned that I may have nothing to fiberglass to. I am hoping and assuming that the stringers are wrapped in glass and more or less sealed.
The damage to the floor occured due to a boat cover that was allowed to sag and collect water, so it looks like the damage is localized to the area in the center of the floor towards the back. Its pretty solid on either side and towards the front. The area around the ski locker is pretty soft towards that back.
My thoughts were that I may be able to remove the rot and replace part of the floor, glass it up and re-carpet. (As I read...thats what you all thought.
)
Your advice is appreciated. Thanks.
