boat turns off after 30secs when started new fuelpump sparkplugs points rebuilt carb getting gas to carb but but keeps stalling. was wondering if anyone knows where to start looking for the problem
When it stalls check for spark. Make sure there is power on the plus side of the coil while cranking. Pull the lead from the distributer and hold it close to the block while cranking. If no spark troubleshoot the ignition. Could be a failing condensor or something in the points. You can rule out a fuel problem by running an outboard fuel tank plumbed to the suction side of the fuel pump. Once you narrow it down, we can help you further troubleshoot whatever system is failing.
k i willl try that and yes boat is new to me and it will not it bogs out when i give it gas or if i leave it at idle it stales in the same amout of time
Have you ever run a carbed engine before? When you first start it, you have to make sure it gets enough throttle to keep running. Maybe the choke is too tight and it's just flooding out. Remove the flame arrester and see if the choke is opening. And, unlike an EFI car, it takes some time to warm up so it will run correctly.
