I have a 22 foot 95 campion cuddy. Thinking of buying a new trailer. I like roller trailers but have been told that bunk trailers are better than roller, somthing about damage to the bottom of the boat. I know they have been using roller trailers for a lot of years. any truth to this or sugestions?

bunks are better for the boat. the ramps you use has more to do, than the boat. shallow ramps, the roller help with the loading. deep ramps bunks. guide one, and self centering keel rollers and the best additions to a trailer. slef centering roller only go on one way, so the groove, moves the keel to the center, if mounted wrong they will move the keel off the roller.

TD is giving you good advice. I've only had experience with bunk trailers, and once set up right, they will support the boat very well.

I have read over the years of members having problems with roller trailers. Common problems are:

- Boat can roll off trailer and crash onto ramp if the which strap is released before the boat is in the water. Boats don't slide off bunks as easy.

- Rollers wear or fail over time and are more expensive and more difficult to adjust than a pair of simple bunks.

- Rollers put the weight of the boat on a few spots, so there is the chance that the hull can be damaged by a broken or improperly adjusted roller. That just can't happen with a bunk.

I have noticed over the years that bigger boats are generally on roller trailers. Boats under 19' or so are usually on bunk trailers.

i would definatly go with bunks. We just converted our trailer from rollers to bunks. The rollers had way to mant pivot points and it seemed like the boat was never on the trailer the same way twice
