Hi gang, I have been browsing for about a year and have gotten some great advice, thank you.

My problem seems very similar to a lot of previous posts with a little twist:

I bought this boat/motor from a guy who was going to refurb the boat but lost interest. When I bought it, he told me it ran great until he broke a nipple off the fuel pump (then it sat for 2 years). After reading some discussions I already knew there was a lot of work to do. I took out the carb, soaked 'em and rebuilt 'em. I replaced the fuel pump, all the fuel lines (motor and supply), thermostat, impeller and plugs. It idled well when I put it in the water and seemed to have tons of power. After about 15 min. it would bog/chug under any acceleration. I got it home checked the spark/compression (115, 120, 120 cold). Inadvertently I left the key in the on position while I ran to the parts store for some clamps. When I got back the flywheel and coil were very hot (found out the hard way). Any idea on what the issues can be.

Thanks again, grybski

should not be a problem unless there is a short, but since it ran i dont think thats it its probly the heat just seeping out of the metal they will stay hot for a while especially if in the sun.
