I Have A 1977 Mercruser 305 With A 898 Out Drive. I Have No Fuel Coming Out Of My Fuel Line Going Into The Carberator. It Has A Mechanical Fuel Pump Just Like An Older Chevy Truck. It Also Has Some Kind Of Fuel Pump Under The Dash. The Front Of My Boat Is Inclosed. So I Have Jno Idia. I Took A Bottle Gas And Ran A Line To My Pick Up On The Mechanical Fuel Pump. It Started And Ran For About 3 Minutes. I Then Hooked The Original Fuel Line Back Up And It Ran For An Aditional 5 Minutes With Me Reving It Frequently. It Ran Fine Then It Fell On Its Face. Just Stoped Runing. What Kind Of Problems May I Be Having. Thanks For Any Help.

Ayuh,...

It sounds like you should start at the Fuel Tank,+ work your way to the Carb....
Tank, Fuel line, Fuel Filter, Fuelpump, Carb....

No fuelpumps mounted to the Dash though...

Re: No Fuel Pressure

sounds like your getting airbound.... splice in a peice of clear test line (vinyl line available at depot/lowes/aquarium stores..... and check for air bubbles

Re: No Fuel Pressure

well... it indicates that your sucking air.... and that you have a bad/loose/rotten etc etc fitting someplace in the fuel system....

often times fuel line connecters will not leak a drop of fuel but suck in air when they are running.

Re: No Fuel Pressure

Or you could simply check the pressure with a simple gauge. I think you should have between 4-6 pounds of pressure. Don't quote me though read my sig. check your manual it will tell you what pressure your pump should give you.
