Our local NBC affiliate carried this story today:

This outfit is gonna "create" "free energy" by covering the highways with little buttons. When cars run over the buttons they generate electricity. The scam artists then collect and sell the electricity generated. They even showed pix of the button-covered road surface and some dude explaining how this was going to save the world.:eek:

Damned if they are gonna steal energy from me and my vehicle to sell. That energy is mine. It became mine when I paid an obscene price for it. I am not gonna use it to push little buttons.:mad:

Anyone else see this story??

Sounds like they have already pushed some of your buttons . . . :D

How are they gonna collect all that free energy from those buttons? Dig up all of the highway with free equipment to connect them all together with free wire?

By using the state/feds to do all the work for them.

The buttons use wireless technology. They will just transmit the energy to everyone.

So now even the interstates will have bluetooth?

I don't see this happening. A rock pops out of I-55 on Monday and you got a tire-sized pothole by Friday... that many gizmos planted in the roadbed is a maintanence nightmare. For both the Highway Maintanence Dept. and the "soon to be needed" Federal Highway IT Services Dept.

-and I ain't calling India for no pothole repair advice!:D

Spend the dough on a geothermal plant.

Its not free energy. If you drive over the buttons you'll be using more gas to do so.
