Hi i have a 3.0L '87 Mercruiser 4 Cylinder, Model 181 CID. i am trying to find out the part number for the original (or should i say, replacement) distributor. One of the pins inside sheared off and i need to replace the distributor, but cant seem to find anywhere the number for it. The serial number of the boat is B487637. i have read in various books that i have a Delco-Remy Distributor.
I dont have the Distributor with me so i cant check for a number on it!
Any suggestions on where i can find the number? Mercury Parts Express wasnt very helpful...

Re: Distributor On 1987 Merc 4 Cyl

Srry I Can't really read your picture to clearly, but threre are two pins on hte base plate to the distributor, that each hold a little spring, helping to control the centrifugal weights. they are near the outer edge of the top to the base plate of the distributor. each spring is about half an inch long and attaches to another pin further in from the edge, near the rotor. one of the outer pins has sheared off. I know i just need to get a new base plate and then i could rebuiild the distributor, but i keep getting asked for the Delco-Remy part/model number when i call dealers. Any idea where i could find this (as i mentioned, i dont have the distributor with me now!)?
