Hi all, I have a Princecraft 16.5 ' alluminum boat, with a live well , just bought this boat, been out twice and both times have had to use the bilge pump allmost the whole trip(4 hrs), the plug is in the boat, and there does not seam to be any damage to the bottom of the boat it actually looks very clean. would anyone have any ideas as to where the water could be comming from? i have even attached the hose to the live well suction and the drain as well and did not see any water. thanking you all in advance ... sinking in nb~!

Re: taking on water!!

Check the eye on the bow to be sure its tight. I have located leaks by putting the plug in and running water in the boat until I found it coming out. The last time it was some screw holes where I had removed some equipment and forgot to seal them.

get a cork and plug the livewell holes and see if the water stops it may be a cracked line or livewell

Re: taking on water!!

He means to plug the livewell pump intake port at the transom, not the drain in the tank. That port is below the water line and feeds the pump. If the port is not sealed in the transom water can obviously get in around it. If the pump housing is broken, or any of the lines going to the livewell are broken or disconnected you will also get water in the boat. Plugging the port will stop the flow if that's the problem. Check the drain line(s) and plug that port as well.

Re: taking on water!!

Hey thanks for the replys.... with all your advice I found the cause , I leveled the boat and filled bottom with water and to my dismay! I heard a good flow of water hitting the driveway it seams I have a rivit missing ! that explains my water issue.does anyone have any repair ideas ? I think to replace the rivit i would have to remove carpeted floor boards crappy!! any quick fixes out there? thanks again all.

Re: taking on water!!

rivet it from the outside. Be sure to use a solid rivet and a dab of sealer.
